Ethics, ecology & fairness

Relationships first

Coffee is one of the most socially complex commodities in the world. It is grown by people – but often sold as an anonymous product. We want to change that.

For us at Lux Coffee, ethics is about seeing the person behind the bean. We work with small-scale producers and family farms – not with anonymous systems or speculators. Because we know that coffee created in respectful, long-term relationships also becomes better coffee.

When we know the people we work with, when we understand their work, their soil and their craft – then together we can develop a coffee that is cleaner, more balanced and fuller in flavour.

Ethics is not a barrier between us and quality. It is a bridge to something better – for both sides. And you can taste it in the cup.

Grown with care

We do not believe in squeezing the most out of the soil. We believe in growing with respect for rhythm, nutrients and nature's slow intelligence.

All our coffee is free from chemicals, artificial fertilisers and aggressive farming methods. It is better for the soil, but also for the flavour. When coffee is allowed to grow in balanced soil, in shade, at the right altitude and at the right pace, it develops a depth and complexity of flavour that cannot be produced industrially. The coffee plant responds to care. It shows in the bean.

When you drink Lux Coffee you are not just drinking something sustainable – you are drinking coffee where every nuance of flavour has been given time and room to develop.

Dignity at every step

Fairness does not begin in the cup. It begins on the farm.

We pay prices well above the global standard price – because we know that truly good coffee takes more knowledge, more work and more commitment. When people are treated fairly, they also get the chance to invest in quality. To experiment with varieties, improve processes and fine-tune every step of production. It is not just fair – it is what makes the coffee better.

We only buy from farms with traceability, decent working conditions and their own focus on quality.

Because when the whole chain is doing well, the coffee tastes its best.
